چکیده
We introduce a hierarchy of semidefinite relaxations the set quantum correlations in generalised contextuality scenarios. This constitutes simple and versatile tool for bounding magnitude contextuality. To illustrate its utility, we use it to determine maximal violation several noncontextuality inequalities whose maximum violations were previously unknown. then go further prove that certain preparation-contextual cannot be explained with pure states, thereby showing mixed states are an indispensable resource In second part paper, turn our attention simulation general operational theories. information cost simulating preparation contextuality, which quantifies additional, otherwise forbidden, required simulate contextual either classical or models. both cases, show can efficiently bounded using variant relaxations, calculate exactly simplest scenario parity-oblivious multiplexing.

Assume Alice and Bob share some bipartite d-dimensional quantum state. A wellknown result in quantum mechanics says that by performing two-outcome measurements, Alice and Bob can produce correlations that cannot be obtained locally, i.e., with shared randomness alone. We show that by using only two bits of communication, Alice and Bob can classically simulate any such correlations. All previous...

We introduce a hierarchy of conditions necessarily satisfied by any distribution P_{alphabeta} representing the probabilities for two separate observers to obtain outcomes alpha and beta when making local measurements on a shared quantum state. Each condition in this hierarchy is formulated as a semidefinite program. Among other applications, our approach can be used to obtain upper bounds on t...

The project concerned the study of quantum correlations (QC) in compound systems, i.e. statistical correlations more general than entanglement which are predicted by quantum mechanics but not described in any classical scenario. I aimed to understand the technical and operational properties of the measures of QC, their interplay with entanglement quantifiers and the experimental accessibility. ...

We study spin-1/2 Heisenberg XXX antiferromagnet. The spectrum of the Hamiltonian was found by Hans Bethe in 1931, [1]. We study the probability of formation of ferromagnetic string in the antiferromagnetic ground state, which we call emptiness formation probability P (n). This is the most fundamental correlation function. We prove that for the short strings it can be expressed in terms of the ...

Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, University of Cambridge, Silver Street, Cambridge CB3 9EW, U.K. (9th August, 1999; revised 10th February, 2000) No physical measurement can be performed with infinite precision. This leaves a loophole in the standard no-go arguments against non-contextual hidden variables. All such arguments rely on choosing special sets of quantum-mech...
